Galapagos Honeymoon Safari

A safari for newlyweds drawn to privacy, nature, and adventure.

A Different Kind of Honeymoon

Galapagos Safari Camp is for couples who want more than a insta-worthy backdrop. It’s for those seeking meaningful time in nature, far from crowds, clichés, and commercialised romance.

Set in the highlands of Santa Cruz Island, our tented camp began with its own love story. Newlyweds, Stephanie and Michael were both drawn to remote places and the spirit of African safaris—the awe, the scale, the beauty of living close to nature, and the quiet chemistry the wilderness evokes (as memorably captured on the big screen in Out of Africa).

They imagined a space where others could connect in the same way as they had, both to the islands and to each other. A place immersed in nature, without sacrificing comfort. Where intimacy isn’t manufactured, but comes naturally. And where the level of luxury feels appropriate to a fragile environment.

That vision became Galapagos Safari Camp.

Why Honeymoon at Galapagos Safari Camp?

Our Camp is for couples who value space, privacy, and the freedom to explore the Galapagos Islands at their own pace. A place that feels personal, not packaged.

  • More privacy: Unlike most Galapagos tours, which are conducted in large groups, all our land excursions are private, with your own car, driver, and naturalist guide. Sea excursions can also be private, though most honeymooners opt for either a shared boat with shared guide, or a shared boat with private guide.
  • Personalised itineraries tailored to your needs and interests.
  • Flexible schedules: Unlike most Galapagos tours, which operate on fixed departure dates, our Safaris are fully flexible, allowing you to plan your honeymoon around your celebration, not the other way round.
  • Year-round travel window with no hurricane season or off-season periods
  • Inclusive and welcoming to all couples
  • Dine à deux, under the stars (possibly under the watchful eyes of our resident barn owls).
  • Space to breathe: 55 hectares of wilderness shared by just nine tents and one family suite
  • Safari-style luxury in the Galapagos: spacious, ensuite Safari Tents with panoramic views of the Galapagos National Park and Pacific Ocean beyond.
  • Warm, discreet hospitality from a small, committed team, including hands-on support from our Safari Designers who take care of all the logistics from the moment you land in Ecuador, including any accommodations and transfers on the mainland.
  • Over a decade of experience in designing honeymoons and once-in-a-lifetime Safaris in the Galapagos.

A Sample Honeymoon Itinerary

Every honeymoon we design is different, but here’s what a five-day/four-night Safari might look like:

Day 1: Arrival & the Highlands (land)

  • VIP lounge welcome and private transfer with your naturalist guide
  • Visit Los Gemelos (Twin Craters) and hike the Scalesia forest
  • Observe giant tortoises in their natural habitat
  • Explore underground lava tunnels and learn about Galapagos geology
  • Lunch at a local restaurant
  • Arrive at Galapagos Safari Camp in time for sunset and a private dinner

Days 2 & 3: Explore Uninhabited Islands (sea)

  • Day cruises to one of the neighbouring islands: North Seymour, Bartolomé, Plazas, or Santa Fe
  • Guided nature walks and snorkelling in the Galapagos Marine Reserve
  • Lunch served onboard; time to reflect, sketch, or chat with your guide
  • Return to Camp for an evening dip, sunset cocktail, and starlit dinner

Note: Sea excursions are usually semi-private, meaning on a shared boat, with either a shared guide or a private guide, depending on your preference and budget. All boats must adhere to strict timetables. As such, booking in advance is necessary, and last-minute changes are not recommended. See What To Know Before You Book.

Day 4: The East of Santa Cruz (land)

  • Hike Cerro Mesa Reserve in search of endemic flora and birdlife
  • Cycle or drive to Garrapatero Beach for a picnic and swim
  • Optional kayaking along the coastline
  • Visit a local farm for a behind-the-scenes look at Galapagos coffee and sugarcane liqueur production
  • Return to Camp for a relaxed final evening

Day 5: Departure

Take a walk, a swim, or linger over a long breakfast before your morning departure

Extend Your Safari

We can tailor your Safari to include:

  • An Isabela Island or diving extension
  • Additional uninhabited islands or more time on Santa Cruz
  • A Mainland Safari to the Amazon, Andes or Cloud-forest

Planning Your Honeymoon

We know the honeymoon often comes at the end of a long to-do list, and that it holds more meaning than a typical vacation. For many couples, it’s the first real pause after all the wedding planning and celebration. A chance to unwind, and quietly honour this new chapter together, in private.

Our Safari Designers have years of experience crafting tailormade itineraries so you don’t have to carry the weight of yet one more thing to organise. From the moment you land in Ecuador, our team handles every detail, allowing you to focus on what matters most: connecting with nature and with each other. It should feel effortless, unforgettable and entirely your own. Let’s begin there.
