Thank you for all the thoughtful touches! Our welcome drinks, the daily debrief, turn down service, meeting the chef, our pretty table the last night. George and Juan went above and beyond – we’re so sad to leave!! The camp was spectacular – great views, great food, great people. It was one of our favourite parts of being in the Galapagos and we couldn’t wait to get back each day. [Guide and driver] were both great. They made our Santa Cruz days smooth and enjoyable. Tony who met us at the airport in Quito was lovely and made that super smooth! Our tour guide was amazing. He made both of our island days fantastic!

Occasionally hard to find someone in the common area. More water in the vehicles would be great. [GSC Note: We followed up on this feedback for more details. The guests kindly explained that they wanted to be able to give us feedback and that there were few areas in which they could comment. While they felt that someone was always available and attentive, they said we could have sold them many more beers if we had asked them more frequently – noted! Regarding the water, after finishing the cycling they refilled their water bottles with the water we had sent, but felt they could have used a little more. This has been duly noted, and we shall be sending more water, especially on the more active excursions. Thank you!]

Absolutely one of the best experiences we have had in our world-wide travels! Lovely meal in Puerto Ayora! Our family loved the Safari Camp. The staff were amazing, super accommodating. The rooms were spectacular, lovely property and very thoughtful touches, including the notes. We really appreciate vegetarian options and the wide experience of trying ecuadorian foods. Portions are great. Most hotels give you food you are familiar with and I don’t like that!
Your ability to act as a travel agent for our Quito and Amazon sections was great and all the airport transfers. Amazing! [activities]. One thing is making the steps and walkways better lit or more even. Two members of our party fell during our stay. Otherwise great! Food and hospitality were out of this world. The sign at the front of the drive was true to its word, “leave your worries behind”. We were treated like family. Some confusion with the coordination on our boat land and snorkel expedition; but otherwise, everything was outstanding. Our only recommendation is to have a second chair in the tent. Camp experience was excellent. Booking was bad – pressure to pay on a holiday when wires don’t work, attempts to downgrade service with no refund. Don’t make us argue. Did not tell us about the best hikes despite specifically asking. [GSC Note: A member of our team offered a number of hiking options but the guest’s wife preferred to visit the beach, which involved a short walk. We understand they didn’t enjoy the experience as much as hoped. While we do our best to manage expectations and accommodate the needs of everyone in a group or couple, we recognise that this fell short in this instance, for which we apologise. We also remind guests that 97% of the Galapagos Islands is protected National Park, and access is limited to designated trails. As a result, some of the hikes may feel shorter or less strenuous than visitors might expect, or have experienced in other national parks elsewhere in the world. In the Galapagos, however, they are designed to minimise impact while allowing for meaningful wildlife encounters].

Isabela Las Tuneles trip was amazing. Galaxy Yacht trip to Bartolome only ‘ok’ [Guide] was excellent. Only feedback was a bit less narration would be ok. Overall satisfaction with activities: Great, but a) more early clarity on where guide not needed and b) more comprehensive offer of activity options during booking leg, we would have loved a volcano hike on Isabela.
Excellent, and the ‘surprises’ were so special and thoughtful! We were asked for feedback on portion sizes. Good for me, a bit much for [name of woman]. And I know Americans are used to larger portions. Perhaps a ‘small’ and ‘regular’ option could be proposed? Also wine not great. [GSC Note: Thank you for this helpful feedback. The camp, the people were amazing. [Guide] was one of the best guides I have worked with. [Name] was a fantastic driver. Activities were great on the 2nd day of boating. They were less attentive.

Lovely stay and staff very attentive. Beautiful pool [although] did not use. As a naturalist [guide] was excellent. Our needs were more to be shown around and attended to. MAINLAND TOUR: lunch w/David Restaurant was charming, the lunch was bad – hotel dinner – fine. The walk in Quito was 2 religious. Too much time in monastery. We were not offered other museums. After, we heard of a museum with pre-columbian art that would have been more to our liking. Should ask clients what their interests are. Not just religious.
In booking, would be great to have the option to go see penguins. [GSC Note: Penguins are often spotted on our excursions to Bartolome Island and on our Isabela Island Extension Safari. However, as with any wildlife safari, sightings can never be guaranteed].
Delicious food, great service. Friendly staff, excellent accommodation. The ginger tea for the scuba boat was fantastic and helped so much. Recommend to anyone going out on a boat. Great experience, staff are phenomenal. Recommend having instructions for the safe in the room. [Our travel agent] did not inform us that we would have a tour upon arrival. We were a bit unprepared as we thought we would go directly to the hotel. Coordination with scuba company was streamlined and efficient.

The accommodations and staff couldn’t have been better! Such an enjoyable experience. Bartolome experience was wonderful and the tortoise reserve was amazing. Seeing tortoises in the wild was the BEST!

Fortunately we liked most of the food. It wasn’t clear what we would have been offered if we didn’t.* Washing wasn’t done!** It’s a very steep walk from the tent to lodge and paths are quite slippery. Enjoyed the boat trip and snorkeling and lava tunnel amazing as was the coffee/sugar cane place. [GSC Note: *Please refer to What to know before you book **The guests had given two white items with stains to our laundry service. As the stains (thought to be sunscreen) had not come out it was assumed the items had only been dried. The staff apologised that the laundry service had not met their satisfaction and reassured them that they would not be charged]
Chef is a master! Staff amazing. Very nice accommodation. Comfortable boat but a bit too crowded for this standard of hospitality [GSC Note: Refer to What to know before you book, and ‘levels of privacy’] Guide not needed for the last two days: bike down, coffee farm, a little lack of privacy. [GSC Note: We do fully understand the need for privacy, however, visitors are required by law to be accompanied by an official guide in the National Park. If privacy is important to you, please make this known to your Safari Designer, as we can suggest activities that are not in the national park, should you prefer).
We were at the pool late and skimmer was off, so a few bugs but otherwise very good.

Learning about the area, going to all the islands and snorkeling spots, and understanding how important they value their animals and environment was something I cherished the most. The Safari Camp in Galapagos was incredible. With only 8 other ‘tents’ it felt like we were the only ones there. And yes they were ‘tents’, but not like any tents I’ve ever slept in before. We enjoyed queen size beds, a full bathroom, exquisite cuisine and impeccable hospitality while in a ‘camp’ environment surrounded by the unique nature of the island. The snorkeling and island excursions were incredible. We were so immersed in the experiences each day that we felt fully present with our family and our minds never wandered to the day-to-day worries we left back home.
The chef was amazing but the outside [dining] deck should have ceiling fans [29 March]. Food was excellent. Should have snack options after excursion returns. Should get a coffee machine that makes lattes and cappuccinos.

Temperatures and rainfall were unusually high at the end of March this year. The guides we work with told us it has been a particularly challenging couple of weeks across the whole archipelago. While this time of year is often viewed as one of the best times to visit the Galapagos, we would like to remind guests that we have no control over the weather or wildlife. See: What to know before you book |
[29 March] Stairs are dangerous [during/after heavy rain]* and need to be worked on. Even with fans in the rooms, it’s extremely damp and hot! The bugs are crazy.** Does not equate to what it looks like in person. The lodge is outdated and needs lots***. Housekeeping was good. Pool was totally not usable****. Everyone [staff] were very lovely! Food was fabulous, we were not made aware that there was only a tasting menu daily and not options*****. The single selection for the kids menu was helpful but more options would have been preferred. Needs lots of improvement. Staff is terrific given what they have to work with. Boat was very slow and choppy due to the speed. We would have thought twice prior to booking a 4 hour boat ride to see turtles and penguins! There were no turtles and one penguin out of 15. Lol.****** We would have chosen a different spot. The dive crew was great but dive location was just ok. Nothing major to be seen. Boat was old. Guide was terrific. Boys enjoyed the time in the water.
[GSC Note: *Steps: We appreciate that your visit coincided with an unusually extreme weather window, with a lot of heavy rain. We have made a note to caution guests when using the steps during or after heavy rain, as well as in general. According to our network of guides, the weather also made many operations (such as cruises, boat trips and island visits) more challenging across the entire archipelago.
** Damp and hot + bugs: As above, the end of March 2025 saw an unusually hot and wet weather window. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on perspectives and interests), heavy rains can bring about more insect activity, most commonly harmless moths in the evenings, especially in the main lodge (there are no dangerous bugs in the Galapagos).
*** This is the first time we’ve received a comment like this about our main lodge. Most guests describe it as a welcoming space that blends comfort with a strong sense of place.. We recognise that not every environment suits every traveller, and we’re sorry this guest didn’t feel the connection that so many others enjoy.
****Pool: We looked into this with our team, who confirmed that the pool was fully operational during the guest’s stay. They understood that the guest’s concern was related to the pool’s size and temperature, rather than its condition. As water is a precious resource in the Galapagos, we’ve deliberately chosen a small pool, and we do not heat it, both for environmental reasons and because it sits beneath the equatorial sun. This reflects our approach to Appropriate Luxury, which prioritises sustainability over excess. Photos taken by staff on the day of this feedback (29 March) can be seen below. Outstanding food and incredibly welcoming staff. A life changing experience, we fell in love with the Galapagos. Incredible outings, unforgettable. Kids activities were a highlight and the bedtime stuffed animals so thoughtful.
The food was excellent and the team was attentive to our unique requests in a kind manner. We could not recommend the camp more highly! Incredible! The service is impeccable! Everyone was so attentive and though of everything! The little details mean the most. Some of the best food! I did not have one meal that was less than impressive. [Name of guide] has such a friendly disposition. Very knowledgeable and has great passion for his island. The activities were magical. We saw everything and all were perfectly timed, not too short or too long. The only thing I would add: maybe have a golf cart for those with mobility issues so they can go as they please, or some small vehicle. Other than that, you have thought of everything!
