About Galapagos Safari Camp

Galapagos Safari Camp is an independent, family-owned tented retreat in the highlands of Santa Cruz Island, offering a full-service, land-based alternative to cruising. Founded in 2007 by Stephanie Bonham-Carter and Michael Mesdag, the Camp pioneered the sustainable tented safari model in the archipelago. With nine well-appointed canvas tents featuring ensuite bathrooms and a private family suite overlooking the Galapagos National Park and the ocean beyond, it provides a nature-focused base for travelers seeking personalized land and sea itineraries, guided wildlife experiences, and a close connection to the surrounding environment.

Galapagos Safari Camp was founded by Stephanie Bonham-Carter and Michael Mesdag, whose story began when, by chance, they stumbled upon some land for sale when visiting the highlands of Santa Cruz Island. They climbed a tree, fell in love with the view, and dreamed of a different way of life …
