Getting to Ecuador: there are direct daily flights from the US and Europe to Ecuador, both to the capital Quito and to Guayaquil.
Getting to Galapagos: there are daily flights from Quito and Guayaquil to Baltra and San Cristobal with TAME and AEROGAL. All are morning flights and early booking is recommended.
Getting to Galapagos Safari Camp: fly to Baltra where you will be met by a member of our staff. It is a short ride to the canal which joins Baltra to Santa Cruz and the crossing takes 5 minutes, followed by a 40 minute drive to the farm.
Weather: the warmest months are December to June, and this period is known as the “rainy season”; showers tend to be strong followed by clear skies and long sunny periods. The water temperature is pleasant and the sea calm. July to November is known as the garúa (which translates as fine drizzle) season. There is little rain during this period but the permeating drizzle makes everything wet, although there are some sunny spells, water and atmospheric temperatures are lower with some sunny spells. Galapagos Safari Camp is 400 metres above sea level which means that the temperature is a little lower, particularly nice during the hot period and very few mosquitoes!
What to bring: hats, good walking shoes, sandals, sunglasses, bathing costumes and sun protection are always needed. During the hotter months mosquito repellent is handy and for the garua season
waterproofs are a necessity.
