Testimonial 2 - David Vass

One of the highlights of my time on Santa Cruz Island was my time at Galapagos Safari Camp. The communal main house offered up a fantastic dinner and an opportunity to share experiences with like-minder travellers. The tents themselves afforded so many authentic “nature” moments - stars and sounds and smells and a beautiful 180 degree vista. A very special place indeed.

Michael Mesdag

When Michael first visited the Galapagos Islands, his adventurous spirit led him to explore the very last farm on Santa Cruz Island, whereupon he decided that setting up Galapagos Safari Camp was worth giving up his life and business in Andalucía.  Born in Spain to Dutch parents, educated in England and graduated in the US, Michael’s love for nature has found a free rein in the Galapagos, where he is involved in several agricultural projects that go hand in hand with his vision of sustainability.

Stephanie Bonham-Carter

Having been brought up in Ecuador and England, Stephanie continued to live, study and work in over 20 countries.  She gave up her itchy feet for a decade-long love affair with the Galapagos, where her and Michael’s children were born. After years living out of a suitcase, Stephanie was committed to making Galapagos Safari Camp an authentic experience that brought guests up close and personal with nature, rather than being a reminder of yet another predictable hotel.

Katrien Bauters

has been the Hotel Manager of Galapagos Safari Camp since June 2010. She is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination and supervision of all accommodation, catering and other hotel services. Her tourism career began in 2000, as an International Tourism Consultant in Belgium and abroad. Eight years later, she made the radical decision to move to Ecuador, where she started off as General Manager for a local hotel chain.  Two years later the opportunity arose to manage Galapagos Safari Camp, one of Ecuador’s most innovative destination hotels.

Belén Tovar

As head of sales for GSC, Belen thoroughly enjoys travelling, and she welcomes new experiences. Born and raised in Quito, she went on to study Finance before beginning a career in tourism. She now has a masters degree in the Management of Protected Areas, and GSC has given her a wonderful opportunity to grow professionally.

Amparo García

Has joined us to assist us with Business Development. Born in Quito, Amparo studied Ecology and Tourism before embarking on her career in tourism. She has worked for tour operators, developing packages and itineraries, as well as managing costs and budgets. Her goal is to design improved standards in order to facilitate work not only in Quito but also in Galapagos. She has travelled extensively throughout Ecuador and is familiar with all the country's attractions.

And of course Galapagos Safari Camp would be nothing without the loyal support of our housekeeping, kitchen, maintenance, farm and our administrative staff.
